Amy

Amy  enrolled onto a Redi cooking course run by Not Just cooking. Looking at cooking through the ages the children aged 9-12 learnt about war time cooking making rabbit stew, fast food cooking , discovering healthier alternatives by making their own chicken nuggets,  basic skills such as gutting fish and helping to cook a medieval banquet for their parents. During the programme children were introduced to a variety of new and different foods to try.

Amy was the eldest of a large family and mum had told us that they were worried about her eating habits. Often she would not eat all day and only pick at her food in the evening, not eating in front of others and never touching her packed lunch.

As the course went on Amy began to try different foods and showed a real interest in how they were prepared. At the end of the ten weeks her delighted mother told us how she had begun to eat in school, helped her with meal preparation and ate with the family.
